Brides and Minted recently announced their 2026 wedding color of the year – Island Citrus. This fresh, citrusy yellow-green hue is versatile and vibrant. A modern take on the hyper-saturated chartreuse shades of 1920s and 60s, Island Citrus pairs well with both cool-tone greens and blues, and warm-tone reds or oranges. And now that it’s been named the season's most exclusive wedding color, you’ll be seeing it everywhere. Here’s how to include the biggest color of the year in your own wedding – even on the smallest budget.

Add some energetic green-gold florals to your bouquets, centerpieces, wedding arch, or wedding altar – with or without a professional wedding florist!
Yellow wedding flowers: Jade Green and yellow roses, fresh daffodils, yellow and green spider mums, gladiolus 'Green Star,' cheerful ranunculus, and yellow mini calla are classic choices for a green and yellow wedding bouquet. Or consider super affordable arrangements made with yellow daisies with fresh green centers, or whimsical vases bursting with wild buttercups and sorrel.
“To me, buttercups herald freedom and nostalgic, carefree summer walks through fields,” says Jacky Mills, a florist, professional gardener and artist. Mills notes other underappreciated (and affordable) yellow wildflowers to consider as well, including “Hypochaeris radicata – cat’s ear or false dandelion; Lotus corniculatus – bird’s-foot trefoil; Medicago arabica – spotted medic; Papaver cambricum – Welsh poppy; Sinapis arvensis – wild mustard; [and] Taraxacum officinale – common dandelion.”

And a splash of citrus color to your wedding reception with green-gold cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages. Chartreuse is a popular French liqueur with a sweet herbal flavor that comes in yellow and green, and used to create classic cocktails like The Last Word – a prohibition-era drink that will have you dancing til dawn – the Monte Cassino, and the Chartreuse Swizzle. Or keep things simple with Lemoncello minis as wedding favors! Include a sparkling lemonade or limeade with a sprig rosemary for an elevated nonalcoholic option.
While true Chartreuse can cost around $80 per bottle or more, you can keep things more affordable with Chartreuse alternatives in the $30 to $50 range. Consider Liquore Strega (a great substitute for Chartreuse Yellow), Izarra Jaune Liqueur, Lemoncello, Dolin Génépy le Chamois Liqueur (substitute for Chartreuse Green), or Michelberger Forest Herbal Liqueur.
“The beautiful lime-green liquid came spewing out of the shaker and into the glasses, astonishing me with its vivid color and yes, the four unique flavors blended together perfectly,” pastry chef and cocktail enthusiast David Lebovitz says. “And who doesn’t want to always be able to have the last word?” (A perfectly cheeky drink choice for a wedding night, don’t you think?)

Minted and Brides created an entire Island Citrus Wedding Stationery Collection to explore – and there are some gorgeous options in the mix! If you need a more affordable option, consider designing your own citrus infused wedding invites and save the date cards using colors in the #E0CF73, #E0D107, to #E0DD80 color range. Templates in Canva or Adobe Express (great for digital wedding invites), Vista Print (plan ahead for a discount code), or support a local small business printing service to produce your DIY design.
Experts suggest printing citrus colored designs on textured or matte cardstock in a natural shade for a muted, elegant look; or go with a glossy stock and bright white base for a finish that pops – with nearly-neon saturation and shine.
