Wedding vows are the most memorable part of any marriage ceremony (along with the officiant’s pronouncement of marriage and your first kiss!).
Wedding vows are the promises you make to your beloved for the years ahead, your personal vows of love and commitment. Your wedding vows can be formal, short and sweet, faith-based, funny and nontraditional, or anything in between… All that matters is that they come straight from your heart!
Below are a few examples of wedding vows for brides. You can use these vows as written, or mix and match your favorite lines. Whether your ceremony has one bride or two brides, these vows can be personalized with stories and details from your own relationship to make them truly ‘you.’

Your wedding vows should sound and feel like YOU, a reflection of your unique love and relationship, as well as the overall tone of your wedding ceremony: Funny, formal, religious, spiritual, modern, or traditional. “_____, I vow to be your loving and loyal wife, to stand with you in God’s love, to care for home and raise our beautiful children, to honor and support you every day of our marriage, and to remain yours, faithfully and gently, for as long as we live.”
“_____, God brought you to me, and me to you, and blessed us with this big love. A powerful and good love! You are loving, loyal, kind, patient, funny, and full of faith in me, in us, and in Him. I promise to walk beside you as your equal, your loving friend and faithful wife, with humility, gentleness, and patience, growing closer to you and to God as we face life’s ups and downs together, laugh together, build our family together, and take adventures together. I am yours, today and always.”
"I, (name), offer myself to you in marriage, in accordance with the instructions of the Holy Quran and the Holy Prophet, peace and blessing be upon him. I pledge, in honesty and with sincerity, to be for you an obedient and faithful wife."
“I, (Name), promise you, (Name), here before Allah and our friends and families, to care for you each day forward, to be a comfort to you, to keep a warm and joyful home for you, to be a place of refuge for you, and to remain a faithful and honest wife to you, always.”
(Note: Traditional Jewish weddings do not include spoken vows. The suggestions below are inspired by modern and interfaith ceremonies.)
"Ani l'dodi, v'dodi li. I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine." (Song of Songs 2:16)
“ _____, I take you to be my wedded husband/wife, to honor you, cherish you, respect you, support you, and love you wholly. They say, ‘Only love gives us the taste of eternity.’* The day I met you, I saw all of life spread out before me, all futures become possible with you. I know that our souls reunite in marriage, growing stronger with our faith and family.” (*Jewish proverb)
Formal & Traditional Wedding Vows for Her
“I, _____, take thee, _____, to be my lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, until death do us part.”
“I promise to be your loving and faithful wife, and to honor this sacred commitment with honesty, kindness, and humility, every day of our lives. I love you today, tomorrow, and always.”

Funny Wedding Vows for Her
“I promise to offer you the last slice, pizza OR pie. I promise to laugh at your dad jokes, and to use pencil on the crossword even when there’s nothing else it could be. I promise to look for cool rocks with you, to skinny dip with you, to be your girl Friday, no matter the story. Most of all, I promise to never stop playing with you – to love you as my best friend, lover, and partner in life.”
"I promise to love and cherish you, but not obey - because that’s very creepy. I promise to go on crazy adventures with you, to never stop laughing with you, to stay up late binging on bad tv with you, to support you, to bring you soup and cookies when you’re sick, and to always ask for directions when I get lost… Which probably won’t come up very often. Most of all, I promise to love you with all of me, as your best friend, your lover, and your partner in life.”
“I vow to treat you with respect and kindness and to show my love in actions, not just words. To hold you close, to make late night runs for wings and ice cream, to spend time in the kitchen with you, to brainstorm and budget with you, and to always find time for us to laugh and play together.”
“The thing I fell in love with first was your sense of humor, then came your strength, your compassion, and your cute ass. You find the fun in any situation, and make me feel completely safe and totally loved. I promise to be your fierce supporter, to never stop adventuring with you, and to love you with all of me as your partner, lover, best friend, and wife.”
