Wedding vows are the most memorable part of any marriage ceremony (along with the officiant’s pronouncement and your first kiss!). They’re the promises of love that your beloved will look back on for years to come. Your vows can be formal, short and sweet, funny, nontraditional, and anything in between… All that matters is that they come straight from your heart!
Below are a few examples of marriage vows for grooms. You can use these vows as written, mix and match your favorite lines, or personalize them with stories and details from your own relationship to make them truly ‘you.’

“_____, I take you as my wife. I vow to be your loving and loyal husband, to lead our home in God’s love just as Christ leads the Church, to honor and support you every day of our marriage, and to remain yours, faithfully and gently, for as long as we live.”
“_____, God brought us together and made our love strong and true. I know that our marriage is blessed by Him, and that He’ll light our way for the lifetime to come. I promise to walk beside you as your loyal husband, with humility, gentleness, and patience, growing closer to you and to God as we face life’s ups and downs together, laugh together, build our family together, and take adventures together. I am yours, today and always.”
“I pledge, in honesty and sincerity, to be for you a faithful and helpful husband."
“I, _____, offer myself to be your husband, with the promise to make our marriage a happy one, enriched always with Allah’s help, His Bounty and All-knowing love, for all the years of our lives.”
(Note: Traditional Jewish weddings do not include spoken vows. The suggestions below are inspired by modern and interfaith ceremonies.)
"Ani l'dodi, v'dodi li. I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine." (Song of Songs 2:16)
“ _____, I take you to be my wedded wife, to honor you, cherish you, respect you, support you, and love you wholly. They say, ‘Only love gives us the taste of eternity.’* The day I met you, I saw all of life spread out before me, all futures become possible with you. I know that our souls reunite in marriage, growing stronger with our faith and family.” (*Jewish proverb)

The best vows are those that speak from the heart, and sound like 'you.' Include details from your relationship and love story to personalize your vows and make them more meaningful.
“I, _____, take thee, _____, to be my lawfully wedded wife/husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, until death do us part.”
“I take you as my wife/husband/partner. I promise to be a loving and faithful husband, and to honor the sacred bond of marriage with honesty, kindness, and humility every day of our lives. I love you today, tomorrow, and always.”
“I promise to share the covers, leave the toilet seat down, and not throw my dirty socks everywhere. Most of all, I vow to never stop playing with you – to love you as my best friend, lover, and partner in life.”
"I promise to not tell you how to drive, to cherish you, but not obey - because that’s a little creepy. I promise to adventure with you, to never stop playing with you, to plan epic date nights with you, to carry my weight, and to always ask for directions when I get lost… Which I almost never do. Most of all, I promise to love you with all of me, as your best friend, your lover, and your partner in life.”
“I vow to treat you with respect and kindness and to show my love in actions, not just words. To hold you close, to make late night runs to the store for chocolate and wine, to spend time in the kitchen with you, to brainstorm and budget with you, and to always find time for us to laugh and play together.”
“One of the things I fell in love with first was your fierce independence, your ambition, and your strength. I promise to support you fully in each new adventure, as your partner, lover, best friend, and husband."
Congratulations!
