We are proud to announce that American Marriage Ministries (AMM) just ordained our millionth minister on October 23, 2022.
AMM's online ordination provides our ministers with the legal standing to act as wedding officiants, and is open to people of all faiths and backgrounds. This inclusive approach has put our non-denominational interfaith church and its million-plus ministers on the front lines of the personalized wedding ceremonies trend.
Founded in 2009, AMM has become the go-to for aspiring wedding officiants by offering free ordination, training, support and advocacy for its ministers across the country. AMM was the first online church to focus exclusively on ordaining ministers as wedding officiants, meeting a demand for credentials and guidance that other organizations were not filling at the time.
Since its founding, AMM has been at the epicenter of the American wedding ceremony, publishing popular planning books, creating unique training programs, and offering in-person guidance and advocacy.
“The wedding ceremony is where American spiritual practice is happening,” said Glen Yoshioka, founder and president of AMM’s board of directors. “That practice is as diverse as our million-plus ministers, and the hundreds-of-thousands of couples they serve. We’ve seen it all, and it’s all very exciting.”
“As our membership has grown, we’ve seen how the inclusion of family and friends as officiants is changing the way that couples celebrate their weddings,” Yoshioka said. “Writing and performing the ceremony from a place of trust and love gives couples the chance to explore what really matters to them, instead of a generic sermon by the local pastor or a courthouse wedding.
Thank you to our AMM family and all our ministers. We couldn't do this important work without you, and we can't wait to see what's next!
We believe that every couple has the constitutionally protected right to enter into the institution of marriage on their own terms, which includes the right to choose who performs their wedding ceremony.
There’s no ‘take-two’ when it comes time for a couple to say ‘I do’-- Wedding officiants only get one shot to perform a perfect wedding ceremony.
Give yourself the tools and training you deserve to succeed as a wedding officiant, so that you can stand beside the lucky couple with complete confidence on their big day.
