This wedding guest’s friend asked him to wear a suit to the wedding afterparty, so that’s just what he did…

Who knew Mobile Suits prefers red wine?

Wedding guest Kuroboshi (X: @zgokzogok) donned an original Mobile Suit Gundam RX-78-2 replica for Ryuryu and Ruby’s nijikai (wedding afterparty), and temporarily took off a glove to toast his friends.

 

The creative choice was a surprise to the couple, who’d simply said, “Please wear a suit.” But it was not a disappointment…

 

In fact, the suit was right on target for the day’s festivities, which followed the formal wedding ceremony of two famous Japanese cosplayers, Ryuryu (X: @00riu) and Ruby (X: @rubyred_16).  

 

Newlyweds Ryuryu and Ruby, who represented Japan at the 2019 World Cosplay Summit, also wore costumes to their nijikai (though theirs were much more understated), and they cut the cake with a large Excalibur replica sword.

We have no notes on the creative dress code for this afterparty… 10 out of 10. What fun!

Mobile Suit Gundam, for those who don’t know, is an anime from the late 70s. As the OG of Japanese robot anime (or mecha anime), the animated tv show featured realistic robots and helped define the military science fiction subgenre, later generating the Gundam mecha media franchise.

 

This makes Kuroboshi's suit collectable vintage 70s formal wear!
