Wedding ceremonies are all about family – the individual families that you and your sweetheart belong to, and the family you’re building together in marriage.
So who better to lead your wedding ceremony than the family member who’s been there beside you from the very beginning, a loving parent!
If you’d like to ask Mom, Dad, a grandparent, or another beloved Elder or Mentor to officiate, check out the new ceremony we just added to our Sample Script Library:

Wedding ceremonies are all about family, so who better to officiate than a parent, grandparent, or beloved elder?

This simple officiant script includes a friendly welcome to your wedding guests, a moment of remembrance for lost or absent loved ones, and a traditional exchange of wedding vows and rings. The wording is lighthearted and loving, and celebrates the importance of family, growth, and enduring love in a lasting marriage.
It also includes everything your ceremony must include to meet the legal requirements in your state, including the Declaration of Intent and the officiant’s Pronouncement.
This wedding script is perfect for a casual, non-religious, or family-oriented wedding ceremony, and can be personalized with unique details from the couple’s love story. Add meaningful readings from literature, song lyrics, or passages from religious texts to make the ceremony feel more like ‘you.’
“Officiant to the Couple:
When you were little, your families were your whole world. Everyone you knew and loved, everything you experienced, was part of a cozy circle centered around your home.
Then you went to school, and your universe widened to include other children and adults. They learned and played with you; instructed and counseled you; helped you find the tools that would allow you to find your own way in a world of growing complexity. As your activities and interests expanded, so did the circle of those who would continue to influence and protect you. What began as your parents’ role was now the collective duty of your burgeoning community.
You grew more independent and ranged farther from home. You developed new friends and involvements. Eventually, you found each other! We marvel at the loving connection you two have made, and we are grateful for having had a role in preparing you for that ongoing miracle.
As you move together through an intricately beautiful world—one that can be inspiring and daunting by turns—please remember the journeys that led you to become the unique individuals that you each are, and that now have led you to each other.”
