Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. It’s a day of wine and roses, chocolate boxes, sweet romance… and group weddings!
Every year, all over the country, hundreds of couples gather together on February 14th to say ‘I do’ in large mass wedding and vow renewal ceremonies.
Some of these rose-colored events are hosted by a local county clerk office or marriage bureau, others are sponsored by restaurants, hospitality committees, and small businesses. They’re officiated by mayors, clerks, local celebrities, and professional wedding officiants.

And although group weddings (also called mass weddings or collective weddings) aren’t everyone’s idea of a romantic ceremony, it’s easy to get swept up in the excitement, spontaneity, and unforgettable spectacle of a big group wedding!
Valentine’s Day group weddings are a popular choice for couples because they don’t require much planning, they’re simple and sweet, they usually cost less than a traditional ceremony, and it’s an easy anniversary date to remember.
And it’s much easier for couples to secure a spot in a group wedding on Valentine’s Day than it is to book an individual wedding: high demand for the holiday means that many vendors book the date months (or years!) in advance.
