Celebrate your differences and the love that transcends them with this nontraditional wedding ceremony script.
This original wedding ceremony script is for couples who love their quirks and chemistry, feminist couples, 'odd couples,' couples that balance each other out, and any other couples who know that when opposites connect, they're inseparable!
It begins with a heartwarming invocation that reflects on the excitement of two unique and independent spirits joining together in marriage – embracing their differences and celebrating their true love.
“Today, we celebrate the union in marriage of [Partner A] and [Partner B], two people who, on the surface, may appear different as night and day. Yet they are fully aligned on what truly matters; Commitment. Respect. Trust. Communication. And a love deep enough to share a common path, while also appreciating and flourishing in the differences.”
Next, your wedding officiant will lead you through the declaration of intent (these are your ‘I do’s!) and an exchange of timeless wedding vows and the ring exchange.
Recite these promises as they’re written or write your own vows for a personalized ceremony:
“I give you this ring, along with my promise to stand beside you and with you,
accepting you as you are and celebrating your spirit. I promise to be worthy of your trust and will give you my trust in return. I will love you until the end of our days and vow to be faithful in heart, mind, and body. With this ring, I thee wed.”
The ceremony ends with a simple pronouncement of marriage and an introduction of the newlyweds (that’s you!) by the officiant… and is sealed with a kiss!
This wedding ceremony script is perfect for non-traditional, non-religious, and non-denomination couples, and is easy to personalize with your favorite wedding readings or unity ceremony.
