Life is a lot more fun and when 'opposites attract'! This heartfelt officiant script reflects on the excitement and authenticity of two unique and independent people joining together in marriage, embracing their differences, and celebrating their true love.

This script is a great fit for couples who love their quirks and chemistry, feminist couples, 'odd couples,' couples that balance and complete each other, and any other couples who know that when opposites connect, they're inseparable!

PROCESSIONAL

Beginning of the Wedding Ceremony.

  • Officiant should remind the guests to rise. Following the entrance of the couple, Officiant should remind guests to be seated.
  • If someone is escorting the Bride/Groom/Marrier down the aisle, then the Officiant shall ask: Who brings this woman/man to be married today? Escort response: "It is my honor", or, "Her/His/Their  Mother/Father and I."

INVOCATION

OFFICIANT TO THE GUESTS

Welcome to the friends, family, and loved ones gathered here today in witness of the joining of [Partner A] and [Partner B] in matrimony. On behalf of the couple, thank you for supporting them, today and always.

When it comes to compatibility, most tend to think of the similarities between two people. But part of what makes life so interesting and exciting are the differences. What often attracts us to someone is that which makes them most unique, and a perfect love isn't determined by similar experiences or interests.

Opposites often attract in exciting and beautiful ways, complimenting one another's lives rather than overshadowing, and the promise to live, love, and be as one does not decrease a person's individuality.

Today, we celebrate the union in marriage of [Partner A] and [Partner B], two people who, on the surface, may appear different as night and day. Yet they are fully aligned on what truly matters; Commitment. Respect. Trust. Communication.  And a love deep enough to share a common path, while also appreciating and flourishing in the differences.

[Partner A] and [Partner B], never underestimate the security that comes with knowing, as you continue to be your own person, you will also enjoy the strength of your two hearts having been joined as one. As you take this step, I ask that you continue to grow and build upon the love that brought you here today.
