Want fireworks and champagne toasts on your wedding day?
How about a party the whole world joins in on?
Then ring in the new year as newlyweds with this fun New Year’s Eve wedding ceremony!
This original wedding script includes a wine box ceremony, love letters to your sweetheart, resolutions for the new year, a festive confetti toss, and a first kiss at midnight.
All these sweet details add up to a wedding you’ll never forget – literally, you’ll never forget your anniversary with this epic wedding date!
The ceremony begins with a speech on the bliss of new beginnings, the power of lasting love, and the promise of joys to come, followed by a seasonal wedding reading of the love poem “You are the Bubbles,” by Rachel Bright, and an exchange of heartfelt wedding vows.
"The commitment of marriage is not one that [Partner 1] and [Partner 2] take lightly. As they commit their heart and souls for a lifetime, they ask each of you to share in a commitment, as well.
As we take a moment and pause, reflect back on the closing year – and something you spent time doing that brought you joy. They ask you to resolve to incorporate more of that activity – and therefore joy - into your life, in the New Year."
After an exchange of rings, the couple seals their love letters in a ceremonial box with a bottle of their favorite wine (to be opened and enjoyed on their first anniversary), and then seals their marriage with a kiss.
Cue the fireworks!
This ceremony is perfect for non-religious and non-denominational couples who want to get married on or near New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day. It can be used as-is, or personalized with your favorite readings or music.
This original officiant script was written by professional AMM Officiant Sherri Crawford, based along the North Carolina coast. In addition to officiating weddings, Sherri works as an event emcee, and entertainment and lifestyle writer. She’s an ordained member of the Universal Brotherhood Movement and American Marriage Ministries. A former rock radio personality and news radio announcer, her personable and professional style has made her a favorite choice among regional and destination wedding couples.
We know that writing a ceremony from scratch can be a daunting process, especially if you’re officiating on short notice.
To make things easier, we keep our Sample Script Library well stocked with wedding ceremony templates and sample scripts for you to choose from. These scripts are a great starting point, with sections to add to, leave out, or reorganize, as you personalize a ceremony.
