This mindful wedding ceremony script, written by AMM Minister Rev. Karla Johnston, invites guests to slow down, breathe deeply, and reflect on the deep love they share for the soon-to-be-wed couple as they join together in marriage.
The ceremony begins with a warm welcome from the wedding officiant, followed by a simple guided mindfulness meditation practice. This meditation script has been thoughtfully outlined by an experienced meditation instructor, with instructions on what to say, when to ring the meditation bell, and how many breaths to count between each part of the ceremony.
“We bring our hearts and minds together, to be truly available for these unfolding moments, knowing we are blessed to be here. The couple invites you to please take a few moments together to sit up straight, with spine relaxed and to look around, allowing your eyes to rest on the many expressions of beauty: the flowers, the handsome attire: colors, textures, adornments, loved ones and friends.

We extend gratitude for all the many hands, those known and unknown, that prepared and brought this ceremony to fruition.

This wedding script also includes a loving exchange of personal vows, a poignant quote from Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh on the gift of remaining present for others, an option to share stories about the couple’s relationship and hopes for the future, and all of the components needed for a legal marriage ceremony – including a declaration of intent and the officiant’s pronouncement.
This script is written by AMM-ordained officiant Reverend Karla Johnston. Rev. Johnston is an experienced wedding officiant, meditation and mindfulness practitioner and instructor, and founder of the Lake Tahoe Mindfulness Community in California.
