Asking a close friend to officiate your wedding is probably the easiest way to add a personal touch to your ceremony. After all, who knows your love story better than someone who’s been there alongside you to watch it unfold?
We bet that’s why Garret Clayton & Blake Knight asked their long time friend, 90s-icon-and-vegan-activist Alicia Silverstone, to officiate their private Labor Day wedding.
Teen Beach Movie and Hairspray Live! star Clayton, and accomplished screenwriter Knight, held their outdoor ceremony at a Disney property in LA over the weekend, where an enchanted wishing well from Snow White was decorated with flowers for the occasion. (via People)
In addition to including their friend (and ordained minister) Silverstone in the ceremony, the couple were walked to the altar by their mothers in a modern take on the processional, and even wrote their own wedding vows. There was live music, live painting, and custom cocktails, and masks were passed out to guests to help everyone feel safer. (via People)
Can you imagine a more perfect, personalized ceremony? As if!

Like so many others, Clayton and Knight’s wedding was postponed multiple times because of COVID-19 and the coronavirus pandemic.
Asking a friend or relative to perform your wedding can help keep the event safer by keeping your guest list shorter. Friends can also pitch in as photographer, DJ, and baker, if they have the skills for the job!
