We love celebrity weddings, but it looks like we might have missed a big one! Last Friday, Eva Mendes confirmed that she and Ryan Gosling are secretly married… and have probably been married for years.
Rumors about the couple’s marital status began buzzing a few days ago, after Mendes posted a photo of a tattoo on her wrist that says “de Gosling.” As InStyle points out, it’s common for Latina women to put ‘de’ in front of their spouse's last name when they marry, and fans quickly picked up on the hint.
Soon after, Mendes referred to Gosling as her ‘husband’ during an Australian podcast interview, and when asked outright if she was married said, “But who says we weren’t already? I like to keep it all mysterious. I’m a very mysterious woman.” (via InStyle, Elle Magazine)
The Hollywood couple are notoriously private about their family life, despite their very public careers. They started dating in 2011 and share two children together.
If you find the idea of a mysterious secret marriage deeply romantic, you’re not alone. Secret weddings and secret marriages are popular, totally do-able, and completely legal – under the right circumstances.
The perfect secret wedding starts with finding the right wedding officiant and applying for a confidential marriage license (a license that doesn’t become public record).
Once these important pieces are arranged, there will be a few other important steps to keep things under wraps… Including keeping any photo evidence off Instagram!
