Broadway star and multi-talented activist Frankie Grande just married actor Hale Leon in a surprise Star Wars themed wedding celebration. The May 4th elopement was announced on Grande’s social media this week, to the delight of millions of fans.
“I can’t wait to share all of these amazing stories, pics and videos with you all slowly as we get them, but for now, let me just say I am the happiest I’ve ever been…” Grande added. “I’m married to the man of my dreams, our families have merged together so beautifully, and we are well on our way to happily ever after.”
According to the post, the newlyweds celebrated with a joint bachelor party weekend with friends after the ceremony, followed by a ‘mini-moon.’ And Hale has already changed his social handle to Hale Grande (@halegrande), this sweet marriage Instagram official!
Frankie and Hale will be hosting a large second celebration in the upcoming months – which Grande calls a “Wedding Ball.” This second celebration, or ‘wedding afterparty,’ will give the couple a chance to celebrate with a large guest list of friends and family who didn’t attend the intimate elopement.
These nerdy nuptials are the latest good news in an already wildly successful year for the stars. Grande, who is Ariana Grande’s half brother, is scheduled to begin rehearsals for Titanique the Musical next month, and he’s hinted at a possible pop collab with Ariana… we can’t wait!
Here’s a look at the most inspired moments of the couple’s surprise ceremony.

Grande called the one-of-a-kind wedding a “small intimate galactic ceremony.” Like many other couples, the newlyweds chose an intimate gathering instead of a large, traditional wedding ceremony. They ditched the traditional venue, too! Grande and Leon took their vows in front of only their “immediate families and before God” at Grande’s family home in Boca Raton, Florida.

The pair went all-in on their Star Wars theme, scheduling it “on May the 4th be with you, cause we really are both that nerdy. 🪐✨” May 4th is known throughout the Galaxy as Star Wars Day, and it’s a favorite day to wed for fans of the franchise. If you’re thinking of picking this cosmic date for your own theme wedding, book early! Venues, officiants, and other vendors tend to fill up fast.

Frankie and Hale both wore intricately detailed wedding tuxedos that merged high fashion with themes from the Star Wars films. The Dolce & Gabbana suits in contrasting white and black were a clever visual nod to the iconic white and black uniforms worn by Stormtroopers and Darth Vador, but with a delightful couture twist: white lace and black crystals. Photos also show sexy lightsaber poses and guests in full costume cosplay, dressed as Stormtroopers, Vader, Chewbacca, and Princess Leia.
The ceremony was officiated by Grande’s “incredible mother,” Joan. Having a parent or family member get ordained to officiate is the perfect way to make a small ceremony even more memorable, and Grande said that “it brought us even closer together as we took our vows…” Joan is very close with the couple, and as CEO of Diamond Dog Entertainment she’s comfortable speaking in front of a crowd – making her a natural choice!

The couple posed for ceremony photos with their adorable dog, Appa (who looks a lot like a miniature Chewbacca, come to think of it…). Frankie and Hale adopted Appa in 2020, shortly after they started dating, and it was important to them that this sweet part of their family be a part of the family wedding celebration, too. Pets are becoming an increasingly popular part of wedding ceremonies of all sizes, showing up in photo shoots, the procession, and even as ring bearers. Great work keeping with the theme, Appa!
