Virgin Islands now offers e-file for marriage licenses

Couples in the U.S. Virgin Islands can now file their marriage applications using an electronic system. 

 

The Judicial Branch of the Virgin Islands announced the exciting new online procedure last week in a press release. This E-file system is intended to make the marriage application process faster and easier for both couples and clerks. 

 

To use the system, couples must:

 

• Download and complete the Marriage Application Packet, cover sheet, and other forms (www.vicourts.org)
• Register for E-filing (usviefile.vicourts.org)
• Upload their packet and pay their fees online 

 

After their application has been filed online, a Clerk from the Family Division will contact the couple to schedule an appointment to appear in person to take their oath and finalize their application. 

 

Couples who don’t have computer access or prefer to file their application in person can still visit the Family Division in both judicial districts to file their documents.
