NFL Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his longtime love Brittany Matthews were married over the weekend during a gorgeous outdoor celebration in Hawaii.
Mahomes and Matthews were high school sweethearts, got engaged in 2020, and welcomed their daughter Sterling Skye into the world in early 2021.
To celebrate their enduring love, they said ‘I do’ on Saturday surrounded by friends and family at a one-of-a-kind Maui beach wedding.
Congratulations to the happy family!
The couple’s daughter, Sterling, made a lasting impression at Saturday’s wedding ceremony!
At only 1 years old, she’s still too young to read a wedding poem or participate in a family sand ceremony, but Mahomes and Matthews made her a focal point of the day by dressing her in a darling white lace dress that matched Matthew’s cutout Versace gown and trailing tulle veil. To make the memories last, the proud parents held her close for family photos.
Include your children in your own wedding ceremony by asking them to walk down the aisle with you, or have them serve as a flower girl or boy, or as a ring bearer. You might also invite them to participate with a special reading or to share in your unity ceremony. If you or your partner are still pregnant or your children are still too young for a big role (like Sterling), a loving mention of them in your wedding vows is a perfect way to include them in the ceremony!
Scroll through the couple's Instagram photos below to see Sterling in her white dress, and other highlights from the ceremony.
Mahomes and Matthews made the trip from Kansas City, Missouri, to Hawaii to celebrate in style – and sunshine.
Plan your own destination wedding at one of the country’s top beaches, in Hawaii (like the Mahomes!), California, Florida, or sunny South Carolina, and arrive a few days early for some pre-ceremony basking and pampering. b
Don’t forget you’ll need a state-issued marriage license and authorized wedding officiant in your chosen location, and be careful to avoid unplanned tan lines and sunburns!
Outdoor ceremonies can be a little more unpredictable than those held indoors, but the additional prep and planning is a hundred percent worth it!
Fresh air, open skies, beautiful scenery, and the sounds of ocean waves in the distance make for unforgettable memories. And you don’t have to go far to make the best of Mother Nature’s majesty – you can recreate this carefree beach theme anywhere, even your own backyard!
All it takes to create a custom ceremony (and put you and your guests in an island state of mind) are the right decorations, some tropical music, cooperative weather, and a positive attitude.
