With the legalization of cannabis consumption lounges in Nevada, we expect to see a lot more weed-friendly weddings and elopements in the Wedding Capital of the World – Las Vegas – as soon-to-wed stoners are finally given the same access to their drug of choice as their boozed up compatriots.

Currently, Las Vegas is home to over 20 recreational dispensaries with various vibes, from Cookies, with its pop art and neon; to Pisos, and its sleek, flora-filled aisles; to Jardin, with its glitzy high-end energy; among many others.
In true Vegas fashion, the city is also home to the world’s largest dispensary, Planet 13, which was launched in 2021 by Cann, a popular cannabis beverage brand. The shop boasts a staggering 112,000 square feet of retail space, a full bar, and a tourist friendly production line. This year, in light of the new law, the business plans to open a 8,500-square-foot lounge, including a 5,000-square-foot balcony with a splash pool for dancing. (via Politico)
There are several weed-themed wedding providers in Vegas, too. The Cannabis Chapel and it’s partner, Hemp World, already offer cannabis themed “weedings” and vow renewals in their outdoor garden, and Las Vegas Cannabis Weddings, owned by sex-pert, wedding officiant, and adult industry veteran, Maxine Fensom, offers a wedding day “bud bar” and “pot party favors” for guests.
But until now, there hasn’t been a legal way for Las Vegas tourists to consume cannabis publically with friends – limiting the options available to couples planning a 420-friendly wedding in Sin City. (Aside from a tasting room run by NuWu Cannabis Marketplace, located on sovereign Las Vegas Paiute tribal land.)
We expect to see that change when lounges begin opening in mid 2022.
Las Vegas is already gearing up for a very busy wedding season – the Clark County Commission declared February ‘Wedding Month,’ and will celebrate issuing its 5-millionth marriage license any day now.
Indeed, there’s little doubt that the city will earn its claim as the Wedding Capital of the World.

Cannabis consumption lounges were legalized in Nevada with the passage of Assembly Bill 341.
Under the law, lounges and tasting rooms will be licensed and regulated by the Cannabis Compliance Board. The first lounges are expected to open in mid 2022.
