Officiant
Welcome, family and friends. We’re gathered here today to celebrate the union of (Partner A) and (Partner B). Each of you here has had a role in this love story, sharing moments of laughter, connection, and support along the way, as these two found each other and fell in love. We know that this is what love looks like when you finally meet your soulmate! A love that delights in differences, and shines with honesty and openness. The love of two (nerds / artists / hopeless romantics / etc) – sharing in one grand adventure!
Love isn’t just a feeling. It’s an action, and a decision not to act. It’s an essence, and an energy, the invisible fabric of our cosmos, our paths woven together in intricate patterns of compassion, compromise, understanding, and acceptance. Love is a power greater than us, and within us. Love is language, and the warmth of sitting in shared silence with someone who truly sees us – the way (Partner A) and (Partner B) truly see each other.
Now, we celebrate with them as they commit to honor this love for a lifetime.
Officiant TO THE COUPLE
(Partner A) and (Partner B), we welcome you to this moment in your lives. You have our unwavering support and friendship. You have built a home for each other in your hearts, a safe and infinite haven. Today, we celebrate you as you begin to build a marriage.
Officiant
Let us take a moment to remember those who can’t be with us today, either because of distance or because they have passed on to another plane.
In particular, we recognize [Name any family members or others whom the couple chooses to honor.]
Although they aren’t with us here in body today, they are with us always in spirit. Love reaches across any distance, and every dimension.
Officiant TO THE COUPLE
(Partner B) and (Partner A), do you now pledge your commitment to each other in marriage — to comfort, honor, and provide for each other each day?
(Partner B) and (Partner A)
(Together) We do!
Officiant TO THE COUPLE
Do you promise your devotion and dedication, and to keep your faith in each other even on the difficult days?
(Partner B) and (Partner A)
(Together) We do!
Officiant TO THE COUPLE
And do you promise to have fun together, to seek new joys and discoveries, to play and laugh together – even when you’re old and gray?
(Partner B) and (Partner A)
(Together) We do!
OFFICIANT
I’ll now share a reading that is special to (Partner A) and (Partner B). In a divided world, sometimes we cannot find the words for what unites us – which is love. We name love ‘God.’ We call it consciousness, Spirit, or divine breath. From the moment our eyes open for the very first time, and beyond the transformation of death, our chest rises and falls with Love.
Poet Rumi wrote:
“May these vows and this marriage be blessed.
May it be sweet milk,
this marriage, like wine and halvah.
May this marriage offer fruit and shade
like the date palm.
May this marriage be full of laughter,
our every day a day in paradise.
May this marriage be a sign of compassion,
a seal of happiness here and hereafter.
May this marriage have a fair face and a good name,
an omen as welcome
as the moon in a clear blue sky.
I am out of words to describe
how spirit mingles in this marriage.”
Let the awesome power of love lead you every day, and let your spirit mingle in marriage as you journey on together!
OFFICIANT TO WHOEVER HAS THE RINGS
May I have the rings, please?
OFFICIANT
(Partner A) and (Partner B) have chosen to exchange rings as a sign of their commitment.
Each ring is a circle - a symbol of a shared path that is open and endless, without beginning or end. These rings are made of precious metal, unbreakable, like your bond. Wear them proudly as a reminder of the promises you make today.
OFFICIANT TO PARTNER A
(Partner A), please place (Partner B)’s ring on [HER/ THEIR/ HIS] finger and make your vow to [HER/ THEM/ HIM].
