This sweet wedding ceremony script includes the perfect wording for a time capsule unity ceremony, a symbolic keepsake of the wedding day. Add a bottle of wine or whiskey, love letters, mementos from a first date, and other meaningful items, and seal them away to be savored on an anniversary or vow renewal. A unique officiant script written by ordained AMM Minister Erica Allen-Steward.

This is an original wedding ceremony script written by experienced officiant and AMM Minister Erica Allen-Steward.

This sweet officiant script includes the perfect wording for a time capsule unity ceremony, to seal personal love letters and a bottle of wine (or whiskey, sparkling cider, etc.) in a keepsake box to be opened later on a meaningful anniversary or during a vow renewal ceremony.

Personalize this ceremony by substituting a book of poems, photographs, copies of the couple's wedding vows, a bottle of sparkling cider or whiskey, or any other meaningful items into the time capsule.

Exchange of Vows & Rings

Officiant

[Partner A] and [Partner B] will now exchange vows and rings as a display of love and commitment to one another. The rings that they have chosen are a symbol of the promises they are making today.

Officiant to Partner A

[Partner A], repeat after me:

[Partner B], as your [husband/ wife/ spouse/ partner],
I promise to choose you everyday,
I promise to honor and respect you,
I promise to encourage and support your dreams,
I promise to laugh with you in times of celebration,
and comfort you when times are hard.
I say these things because I love you,
and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.

  • Partner A repeats each line after it's spoken by the officiant.

Unity Ceremony: Time Capsule

  • Before the ceremony: the time capsule should include items that represents the couple's relationship, such as a favorite beverage, jar or canned food / sauce, mementos from a first date or anniversary, letter or cards from wedding guests, dried flowers, etc. The couple will also write love letters to each other and seal these in the box to be read together at a later time.

Officiant

To represent their love and commitment over time, [Partner A] and [Partner B]  have chosen a Time Capsule Ceremony. This unique ritual is a symbol of what unites them, the things they enjoy doing together, and the adventures they look forward to in marriage.

This decorated box in front of us holds a bottle of (wine / whiskey / etc.), 2 glasses, and love letters the couple has written to each other. (Name any other symbolic items included the time capsule).

The letters are sealed in individual envelopes and have not been seen by the other. They describe how [Partner A] and [Partner B] feel about each other, the reasons they fell in love and chose to get married. This (wine) is significant because it is the same type that they shared on their first date, [amount of years] ago. (Describe the symbolism of any other special items in the time capsule.)

With this symbolic act, [Partner A] and [Partner B], are forming a tangible memory to be enjoyed in the future. In time, their love will change, grow stronger, and mature, and they will be able to look back on this moment with joy in their hearts. And as the saying goes, “ages like fine wine”, we know that their marriage will do the same, and get better over time!

  •  The officiant invites the couple to place their sealed letters in the time capsule box, and then seals the box.

[Partner A] and [Partner B], display this beautiful box in your home as a constant reminder of your commitment for each other. This time capsule shall be opened on your [first, fifth, tenth, etc] wedding anniversary.

When you open the box, sit together, read your letters, and share your bottle of (wine / whiskey / etc). Remind yourselves on why you got married and reflect how you have grown together as a married couple. Then, reseal the time capsule with newly written letters and a new bottle of (wine / whiskey/ etc) and do this all over again in another (one, five, ten, etc) years.

This will be a reminder of your ever-evolving love story!

Pronouncement

[Partner A] and [Partner B] , as you begin your life together as a married couple, may this moment forever live in your hearts. May your lives together be blessed with good health and moments to renew your love. May your love be a source of affection and devotion and may each day together be filled with laughter, friendship and everlasting love!

By the power vested in me by the state of (Name of State) and American Marriage Ministries, I now pronounce you [new married name]!
