How Long Does an Ordained Minister License Last?
Our ordinations do not expire. There are no annual renewal fees or tithes either. Getting prepared to officiate a wedding is already a lot of work and can often get stressful. We do not want to add to that stress. We want to make this process as simple and easy as possible.
We are not interested in requiring that you give us money at regular intervals to remain a minister in Good Standing with our Church. We believe that would be unethical. That being said, we do fully appreciate your voluntary donations and purchases from our store. That is how AMM is supported, after all.
How long does an ordained minister license last? Here at AMM, your ordination lasts as long as you remain in good standing. That means you need to act ethically, with integrity, and be compliant with all local laws. We also urge you to take this work seriously. We urge you to create deep connections with the couples and communities you serve and find ways to express their values and intentions in language that resonates.
Ordination in this context refers to the process by which someone is recognized and authorized to perform religious ceremonies or functions by the ordaining organization (that’s AMM in this case). An ordination from a church empowers someone to lead worship services - like wedding ceremonies. It also applies to sacraments, and officiating at funerals, and other rites.
AMM is also not interested in mediating between you and your source of meaning and inspiration, whether that be nature, a higher power, love, community, or any other transcendent state. So why does an ordained minister license not expire? Because as long as you choose to act as a minister, we don’t revoke it. If you change your mind, you can deactivate your account and consider your status revoked. Again, it’s up to you.
As a non-profit charity, we operate under perennial austerity measures and allocate our financial resources carefully. Our mission is to provide our services to as many people as possible. By not charging fees we are able to provide those services to more people, people many of whom would otherwise not be able to afford it.
We believe all people have the right to perform marriage. This includes people of all socio-economic classes, not just those who have money.
Once you get ordained, your ordination is valid for life or as long as you choose to remain an AMM minister. If you wish to renounce your status as an AMM minister, you can do so from your minister account. If you need assistance doing so, you can contact us and we will have your account deactivated for you.
