BECOMING AN OFFICIANT FAQ
Does your ordination really make me a legal wedding officiant?
Becoming an ordained minister through our online ordination process grants you the legal right to perform weddings in all 50 states and territories of the US. As a minister of a federally recognized 501c3 church (that us), you have the legal standing to perform weddings and sign marriage documents.
What is the difference between an ordained minister and a wedding officiant?
While other people like judges, ship captains, and some elected officials are allowed to become wedding officiants because of their job, ordained ministers gain that right through the process of ordination. Ordained ministers are just one group of a larger body of individuals that are able to officiate weddings.
Can I really become a wedding officiant online for free?
Our ordinations are always free, and you can become an ordained minister without paying, just by clicking the "get ordained" button on this page. Our free ordination is at the core of our mission to empower couples and ministers to create spiritual moments that reflect their beliefs. We don't charge for this service because we want to reach everyone who wants to become a minister -- not just those who can pay.
