Earlier this month, Lenny Kravitz told reporters that he’ll be giving an unrehearsed, heartfelt father-of-the-bride toast at his daughter Zoë’s wedding.
“It just comes at the moment,” he said when Entertainment Tonight’s Deidre Behar asked how he’ll choose the right words for the big event.
“I don’t rehearse those things,” he added, saying that this type of speech always comes “from the heart” for him. (via the exclusive Entertainment Tonight interview at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards)
Now, if anyone can pull off a wedding speech without any practice, it’s Lenny Kravitz. After all, he’s a formidable rock-meets-funk legend, with all the style, sexy swagger, and storytelling skills to go with it.
But for those of us who haven’t rocked a sold-out stadium show in a custom jumpsuit, or given countless off-the-cuff interviews on the red carpet…
Preparation and practice are the keys to a successful wedding toast.
So in this instance, and only this instance, we say – Don’t be like Lenny!
