This original wedding ceremony script written by Officiant Sherri Crawford captures the feeling of walking hand in hand with your sweetheart on a bright fall day, reveling in the colorful shift in seasons as you take the next step into marriage.
“Welcome! We gather on this divine autumn day to celebrate the love discovered between (Partner A) and (Partner B). Like the color of leaves in the fall, their relationship is changing – and we mark that significance with their wedding today. Autumn leaves also remind us that transition is in our very nature. This ceremony will symbolize (Partner A) and (Partner B)'s transition to their next chapter.”
The wedding officiant’s opening speech welcomes guests with a reflection on the nature of life and love, and invites them to pause for a moment of mindfulness before continuing on with a sweet twist on the familiar statement of intent.
Next, at the heart of this unique fall-themed ceremony, is a reading of the lyrics of a popular Neil Young song, “Harvest Moon,” conjuring romantic images of moonlit dancing, celebration, laughter, and lasting love.
“We could dream this night away / But there's a full moon risin' / Let's go dancin' in the light / We know where the music's playin' / Let's go out and feel the night / Because I'm still in love with you / I want to see you dance again / Because I'm still in love with you / On this harvest moon…” (Neil Young, Harvest Moon)
This wedding script also includes an exchange of simple, classic wedding vows and rings, a nature-inspired blessing, and an official pronouncement of marriage to create a memorable one-of-a-kind ceremony.
Written with September, October, and November weddings in mind, this ceremony is perfect for couples who love crisp autumn breezes, the crunch of colorful leaves under their feet, and the promise of laughter, romance, and moonit dancing for years to come.
This is an original wedding ceremony script written by AMM Minister Officiant Sherri Crawford, of Officiant Sherri wedding services in Wilmington, North Carolina.
