This sweet non-denominational wedding script centers on the couple’s unique love story, while weaving together themes of commitment, family, and faith.
The ceremony begins with a warm welcome to friends and family, moving reflections on the nature of love and the endless strength found in God’s protection and care, recognition of the couple’s children, and a timeless Bible verse from Corithians, “Love is patient and kind…”
Next, the couple exchanges their lasting promises to love and cherish each other in traditional ‘call and response’ wedding vows, followed by a sweet and simple ring exchange, a heartfelt marriage prayer, and a personal blessing for the future from the wedding officiant.
“Bless this day, O’ Lord, and bless this union. Help them to remember to grow into a strong love every day. Put your hedge of protection around them, and let nothing divide them.
Give them words both kind and loving to each other every day. Grant them the sacred bond of kindness, truthfulness, and faithfulness in their home. Make their hearts always ready to ask for forgiveness as well as to forgive. May they continue to bring out the best in each other and remember to keep you in their hearts.
We put this marriage into your hands, and ask for your blessing as they start this new life together. May the peace of Christ rule in their hearts, and the joy of the Lord be their strength on this journey together. In your name we pray, Amen.”
Use your favorite parts of this ceremony script ‘as is’, and personalize the invocation and closing words with details from your own relationship. Add scripture readings, a meaningful unity ceremony, or include your favorite hymns.
Best for Christian couples who are planning a traditional, semi-traditional, or casual religious wedding service. It can also be modified for any non-denominational Christian or interfaith wedding ceremony.
This custom wedding ceremony script was written by AMM Minister and experienced wedding officiant Valise Jackson, based in Lewisburg, Tennessee.
