In very welcome news, the CDC announced Thursday that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks or social distance indoors or outdoors, regardless of gathering size. This is fantastic news for couples and families everywhere, especially those planning or attending weddings, receptions, and other celebrations this summer.
According to Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the director of the CDC:
“Anyone who is fully vaccinated can participate in indoor and outdoor activities – large or small — without wearing a mask or physically distancing… If you are fully vaccinated, you can start doing the things that you had stopped doing because of the pandemic.” (as reported by AP News)
The new guidelines still recommend mask-wearing in crowded indoor settings such as planes, shopping centers, public transit, and hospitals, and in any business or venue that has its own requirements for masking. Because it’s difficult (or impossible) for workers to know who is and isn’t vaccinated, masking in these public spaces will help keep staff safe and make their jobs easier.
This news is even more exciting following the approval of vaccine use in children 12 and up!
