Couples can marry for free at Philly pop-up event in support of marriage equality

Published Monday, Mar. 15th, 2021

The Equal Dignity Pop-Up Nuptials collective will be hosting a free one-day-only ceremony event on March 21 for couples hoping to marry in Philadelphia. The celebration will take place at River House at Odette’s in New Hope, Pennsylvania, about an hour outside of the city.

Because Pennsylvania has a 3 day waiting period for marriage licenses, couples who want to join in the festivities will need to apply for their license, and reserve their spot at the event, by Wednesday, March 17.

Vendors in Philadelphia formed Equal Dignity Pop-Up Nuptials several years ago in support of marriage equality and the legalization of same-sex marriage, and their events are open to all couples who wish to marry.

This will be the group’s fourth free inclusive event. The last celebration was in November, following new concerns over the future of same-sex marriage protections and a large number of wedding disruptions created by the Covid-19 pandemic.
