Want to get married in an easy civil ceremony without all the bells and whistles of a traditional wedding? We’ve got the perfect ceremony script and outline for you…
This straightforward ceremony script begins with a brief and heartfelt invocation that speaks to the joys and responsibilities of lasting marriage, and captures the deep importance of the wedding day in only a few words.
“Please remember that love, loyalty and understanding are the foundations of a happy and enduring home. No other human ties are more tender and no other vows more important than those you are about to pledge.”
These words of wisdom are followed by a simple and familiar declaration of intent – that’s when you say ‘I do’ to marriage!
Next, the wedding officiant will lead you through a loving exchange of vows as you place the ring on your partner’s finger, and pronounce you married.
From the script:
“Now that you have joined yourselves in matrimony, may you strive all your lives to meet this commitment with the same love and devotion that you now possess.
By virtue of the authority vested in me by… American Marriage Ministries, I now pronounce you husband and wife (or "spouses for life," or whatever descriptors the couple prefers).”
Short, simple, and oh so sweet! This script is non-religious and gender neutral and can be easily personalized with your favorite wedding reading or unity ceremony.
