Remember 'The One with Monica and Chandler's Wedding'? The Friends episode that most of us never saw coming in the early 90s, and one that fans will definitely never forget. It’s a classic!
There’s Joey in his dashing WWII costume, Phoebe and Rachel as supportive bridesmaids, and Ross making sure everything stays on track… in his own way.
Of course, the ceremony itself is a lesson on what not to do as a wedding officiant... Everything that could go wrong does: Joey schedules another event too close to the wedding’s start time, arrives late, wears something that draws attention away from the couple, forgets to bring a copy of his script, and forgets to include the declaration of intent or ring exchange until the end of the ceremony…
But when you ask Joey Tribbiani to officiate a wedding, you expect a few comedic mishaps, right? (And that's why it's so important to choose the right friend as your officiant.)

Officiant Joey also did a few things right, too, like speaking from the heart, keeping things light, and helping the happy couple to exchange heartfelt vows – proof that friends make amazing wedding officiants!

And after years of looking for true love, and finally finding it in each other, Monica and Chandler pledged their devotion to each other in front of everyone they knew. It was an epic late 90s - early 2000s romance!
So if you’re looking for wedding vow ideas, let these sweetly sentimental (and famously funny) words from a few of your favorite Friends inspire you.

from 'The One With Monica and Chandler's Wedding'
“Chandler, for so long, I wondered if I would ever find my prince, my soulmate. Then three years ago, at another wedding, I turned to a friend for comfort, and instead I found everything that I’d ever been looking for my whole life. And now, here we are, with our future before us, and I only want to spend it with you – my prince, my soulmate, my friend… Unless you don’t want to.”
from 'The One With Monica and Chandler's Wedding'
“Monica, I thought this was going to be the most difficult thing I ever had to do. But when I saw you walking down that aisle, I realized how simple it was. I love you. Any surprises that come our way, it’s ok, because I will always love you. You were the person I was meant to spend the rest of my life with. You want to know if I’m sure? (Chandler kisses Monica)”

First Clergy:
“Dearly beloved…”
Officiant Joey:
(running into the room) “That’s my line!”
“I can take it from here. Thanks…
Dearly beloved, I’m sorry I’m a little late… You may be confused by this now (points at military uniform), but you won’t be Memorial Day Weekend, 2002. Well, let’s get started before the groom takes off again, uh?
We’re gathered here today to join this man and this woman in the bonds of holy matrimony. I’ve known Monica and Chandler for a long time, and I cannot imagine two people more perfect for each other.
And now, as I’ve left my notes in my dressing room, I shall proceed to the vows. Monica?”
Monica:
"Chandler, for so long, I wondered if I would ever find my prince, my soulmate. Then three years ago, at another wedding, I turned to a friend for comfort, and instead I found everything that I’d ever been looking for my whole life. And now, here we are, with our future before us, and I only want to spend it with you – my prince, my soulmate, my friend…
Unless you don’t want to."
Chandler:
"Monica, I thought this was going to be the most difficult thing I ever had to do. But when I saw you walking down that aisle, I realized how simple it was. I love you. Any surprises that come our way, it’s ok, because I will always love you. You were the person I was meant to spend the rest of my life with. You want to know if I’m sure? (Chandler kisses Monica)”

Officiant Joey:
"You may now kiss the bride?
So, by the powers vested in me by the State of New York, and the internet guys, I now pronounce you husband and wife."
Officiant Joey:
"Oh, wait! Do you take each other?"
Chandler:
"I do."
Monica:
"I do."
Officiant Joey:
"Yeah you do!"
Ross:
"Rings?"
Officiant Joey:
"Ah, crap, ok. Let’s do the rings…"
(They exchange rings.)
Officiant Joey:
"Once again, I pronounce you husband and wife. Kiss her again!"
