Asked to officiate a wedding for the first time?
Get ordained online with AMM and learn how to marry friends and family members!
There’s a reason this blog is our top choice -- AMM puts it’s heart into making American Weddings an informative, entertaining, and up-to-date resource. Unlike most other blogs on this list, this one is all about the wedding ceremony, and ensuring that anyone asked to officiate a wedding has everything they need to do a great job.
The blog is updated daily with articles on ceremony planning and inspiration for first-time officiants, fun and creative wedding traditions, seasonal wedding scripts and templates, state marriage laws, industry trends for professionals, wedding news, and more.
American Weddings is written specifically for wedding officiants (whether you’re a friend or family member, or a full time pro!) and for couples planning a wedding ceremony. With access to a wide network of knowledgeable Ministers, vendors, county clerks, and other industry experts, we think this is the best wedding blog for officiants.
This popular website is primarily aimed at soon-to-be-wed couples, so its articles give wedding officiants valuable insight into what today’s couples are looking for (and not looking for) in a wedding ceremony.
Browse the “Ceremony & Reception” section under “Ideas & Advice” for articles on popular wedding traditions, wedding customs from around the world, advice on writing wedding vows, and more. (Then head to “Attire and Rings” to gawk at some gorgeous wedding gowns!)
The Knot also offers paid advertising opportunities for wedding vendors, including wedding officiants.
WeddingBee hosts an active online forum for soon-to-be or recently married folks, called “Ask the Hive,” so it’s always buzzing with insights into what modern couples are looking forward to (or concerned about) while planning their wedding.
The WeddingBee “Ceremony and Reception” section, found in the “Wedding Planning” menu, is written with couples in mind, but wedding officiants will find informative articles on creative family traditions, unity ceremonies, current trends for young couples, etiquette, and more.
Just be warned that it might take some scrolling to get past posts focused only on the reception party, guest list, or venue planning, to get to ceremony-centered topics.
The Green Wedding Shoes “Real Weddings” resource is full of gorgeous real-world ceremony examples, giving officiants an inside look at what real couples (and other officiants) are doing on the wedding day.
You’ll find inspiration for your own ceremony planning -- from creative ways to walk down the aisle or set up an arch or altar, to how to get friends and family involved with reading and unity ceremonies, to what to wear while delivering the ceremony.
In addition to stunning ceremony photos and inspo, Green Wedding Shoes offers a “Find a Vendor’ search feature for couples to use when looking for a wedding officiant in their area. Wedding professionals can join this list to reach more engaged couples in their area.
Like others on this list, WeddingWire is a great place for inspiration and advice on all things wedding related. While designed mostly for soonlyweds, the site’s “Wedding Ceremony” section, under the “Ideas” menu, offers useful articles for first-time or expanding wedding officiants.
You’ll find topics like common wedding ceremony mistakes, tips for a successful processional or recessional, writing wedding vows, and creating interesting unity ceremony rituals. This section is only updated about once a month, but there are plenty of other interesting articles on the site to keep you busy in the meantime.
WeddingWire is part of The Knot Worldwide, and is owned by the same folks who run The Knot. Like that site, WeddingWire provides paid advertising opportunities for officiants (but this won’t be worth the investment for all officiants).
