This Czech Christmas Tradition Predicts When You’ll Get Married

Wondering if a wedding is in your future?

Throwing a shoe over your shoulder might help you choose a wedding date... or find a sole-mate.

Single women living in the Czech Republic have a unique Christmas tradition that’s said to predict whether or not they’ll get married in the coming year. It’s a shoe toss!

On Christmas morning, they grab their favorite flats and sneakers and head outside. Standing with their back to the door of their house, they throw the shoe over their shoulder and then turn to watch how it lands.

If the heel’s toward the door, they’ll stay single another year. But if the toe’s pointing toward the door, they’ll be walking down the aisle in no time!

Now, there’s nothing that says men can’t try on this tradition, too. So fellas, grab those shoes and step outside...

We can’t attest to its accuracy (it might be easier to just propose marriage yourself…) but it sounds like a fun Christmas tradition for anyone in the mood for a wedding.

In fact, it kind of reminds us of brides and grooms tossing a bouquet or garter to predict which wedding guest will wed next.

This Christmas, grab your favorite sneakers, clogs, sandals, or flip flops to see if marriage is on the calendar in the coming year.

(We just don’t recommend heels… those things are dangerous when they get moving.)

And if the shoe fits, ask a friend to get ordained and officiate your ceremony!
