This original interfaith nikah / wedding script is written by professional officiant Rev. Dr. Samora Smith and includes references to Christian and Muslim scripture, a heartfelt opening prayer and invocation, and an exchange of simple, classic marriage vows… sealed with a kiss.

The wedding officiant begins the ceremony by reflecting on the value of kindness, the couple’s shared values, and Divine love. This invocation includes a simple speech on love’s power to unify and unite us, and the deeply spiritual nature of marriage.
“This ceremony today calls upon each of us to recognize that love is our greatest unifier... the Divine spark that created each of us... the Divine spark that brings us all together.
(Partner A) and (Partner B) may come from different backgrounds (and cultures), but their deep love and faith in each other is a true testament that love never fails. Today is a celebration for all of us to witness love in bloom, and (Partner A) and (Partner B) are so grateful for your love and support.
A true Spiritual union is more than an outward joining… It is a profound entrance into the mystery of creation and rebirth, as two become one.”
Next, the officiant shares meaningful references the The Bible and The Koran (Corinthians 13:4-5 and Surah al-Baqarah 2:187), followed by a simple declaration of intent, an exchange of traditional marriage vows and rings, and a final blessing and pronouncement of marriage from the officiant.
This moving and thoughtful wedding ceremony script blends the traditions of two faiths into one – respectfully, joyfully, and with deep respect and love! Use this mixed-faith ceremony ‘as is,’ or personalize it with your favorite readings, poems, prayers, and unity rituals.
Perfect for a religious, slightly-religious, or spiritual Muslim & Christian interfaith nikah or wedding, to bring together friends and families from two faith communities and cultures on the wedding day.
