Deborah lives in Georgia and was ordained by American Marriage Ministries on February 2nd, 2020.
I am available to officiate ceremonies in both Georgia and Florida and would love the opportunity to become a small part of your story. Weddings have held a special place in my heart for as long as I can remember. As a little girl, I would dress up my great-grandmother's lotion and perfume bottles with pieces of trailing fabric and pretend I was performing their weddings. I suppose you could say I began officiating long before I knew what an officiant was! That childhood fascination never really left me. Later in life, I owned a catering company and had the privilege of being part of many weddings. I especially loved creating wedding cakes and seeing all the individual details come together on the wedding day. There was something incredibly rewarding about watching a couple's ideas, plans, and dreams finally become a celebration of their life together. As I grew older, my connection to weddings took on a deeper meaning. I became especially aware of couples who wanted a meaningful wedding ceremony but felt that financial circumstances left them with few choices beyond a courthouse or Justice of the Peace. I believe the significance of a wedding should never be determined by the size of someone's budget. A beautiful and memorable ceremony doesn't require an elaborate venue or an expensive celebration—it requires two people, their commitment to one another, and someone willing to honor the importance of that moment. That belief was an important part of what led me to become ordained through American Marriage Ministries. Today, my reasons have grown even broader. I simply love being present when two people choose one another and begin the next chapter of their lives together. Being invited into such a personal moment is something I consider both a privilege and a responsibility. My Beliefs & Approach to Marriage As a non-denominational minister, I believe a wedding ceremony should honor the beliefs, values, traditions, and wishes of the couple getting married. My role isn't to make your ceremony fit my beliefs—it's to help create a ceremony that authentically reflects yours. I welcome couples who envision a traditional Christian ceremony as well as those who prefer something spiritual, secular, a blending of faiths or traditions, or something entirely their own. What matters most to me is that when you stand together on your wedding day, the words being spoken feel meaningful and true to the two of you. I particularly enjoy incorporating personal elements such as your own vows, family traditions, meaningful readings, prayers, handfasting, unity ceremonies, or other customs that tell a little more of your story. Most of all, I want you to look back on your ceremony and remember more than the words that were spoken. I want you to remember how you felt. From a little girl marrying perfume bottles in my great-grandmother's house to having the honor of standing beside real couples as they make one of life's most meaningful promises, I suppose weddings have always been part of my story. Now, one of my greatest joys is being invited to become a small part of yours. Weddings have held a special place in my heart for as long as I can remember.
