You’ll have a lot to see and do once you are in Fayetteville, but let’s make sure you have the logistical aspects of your wedding nailed down before you plan any further.
Let’s start with the ordainment process. According to Washington County’s website, anyone can perform marriages as long as they are registered with the County Clerk’s Office in the State of Arkansas. Ministers must file their credentials with the county clerk for a small fee of $5.00.
If you are interested in obtaining these credentials as a legally ordained minister, you can get ordained with AMM! The process is quick and easy and should only take you a couple of minutes to complete.
Now that the easy part is out of the way, we can help you prepare for the wedding ceremony itself. Being asked to officiate a ceremony is an honor but can feel like a lot of pressure. You will appreciate our wedding training pages, which give you helpful information to prepare for your first ceremony and ensure that it goes smoothly.
Here you can find everything from sample wedding ceremony scripts, to brainstorming prompts, preparation tips, and more.
It is the full responsibility of the couple to obtain and fill out the marriage license. However, your job as the officiant is to make sure that it is filled out correctly and returned by the couple to the Washington County Clerk’s Office within 60 days after solemnization. Once this is completed, your functions as the officiant are fulfilled, and you can sit back and relax!
