A native of Brooklyn, Judith has always been active in her community. From the age of 17, she held elected and appointed positions in various civic organizations and associations. She volunteered her time and talent for a host of neighborhood activities, including voter registration drives, educational forums and community fund raising events. Judith has over 30 years of professional experience. Her career path has included work in the Federal government, private industry, civil service, and non-profit organizations. She is a published poet who was appointed Poet-in-Residence at St. Philips Church by Cannon Pruitt in 1999. Judith writes enlightening skits and educational short plays. She is the award winning writer, director and producer of ?Moore Than We Bargained For,? a two-hour riveting play about HIV and AIDS and its horrific effects on the black community. Judith donated most of the show?s profits to the Balm in Gilead Organization and the Brooklyn AIDS Task Force. In 2010, the Carib News published ?Papa?s Letters,? a four part series focusing on exquisite love letters between her grandmother in Jamaica, West Indies and grandfather in Brooklyn, New York beginning in 1913. Because of the outstanding response by readers, she expanded the series into her first book, ?Papa?s Letters: Love via First Class Male?. Judith is also Contributing Writer and Historian for Brooklyn?s leading digital social hub, OurBKSocial.com. Her awards include but are not limited to the Isaac Liberman Public Service Award (100 Year Association) Distinguished Woman of the Year (St. Philip?s Episcopal Church) Shakespeare Trophy of Excellence (Famous Poets Society) Exemplary 20 Years of Service Award (NYC Transit) and Long Standing Service (St. Joseph?s College). Judith is included in the 2013 edition of the Covington Who?s Who?s Registry of Executive and Professionals. She is the daughter of Judith M. Lovell retired New York City Special Education Junior High School Teacher, and the late Milton M. Lovell Chief Microbiologist who also received the Isaac Liberman Award for diagnosing the first case of infant botulism in the state of New York. Judith is the mother of Kwame C. Prescod, Sr., and Ayanna E. Prescod and the grandmother of Kwame C. Prescod, Jr and Kristopher C. Prescod.
