Mariela lives in Georgia and was ordained by American Marriage Ministries on April 27th, 2017.

Since migrating from Venezuela 21 years ago, I have worked hard to build a successful career in media. After working for outlets such as CNN en Español Radio and Georgia Public Broadcasting, I now serve as director of community empowerment and host of Conexión for Univision 34 Atlanta. My journalism job is a pretty unique gig because it has allowed me to connect with Georgia's Latino community. Not only do I get to report on the needs and struggles of Latinos as other reporters do, but I lead my network's corporate responsibility platforms, which include education, health and civic engagement, in the local market. My work goes beyond journalism to inform, to educate, to solve problems, I play a role in empowering our audiences. My status as an immigrant gives me a sense of belonging in a smaller and exclusive community, and I feel I can be a bridge with the community at large. I believe immigration makes for a diverse country, which makes The United States of America stronger. Immigrants are resilient, and our story is proof that we can overcome and succeed. Outside of work, I am very bless to bring my unique perspective to the boards of the American Heart Association of metro Atlanta, The Boy Scouts of America Metro Atlanta Council, The Media Education Foundation of Georgia and The Hispanic Organization Promoting Education (HoPe)
