Hello, I am Nancy Dobson; I now live in Columbus, GA. I just turned 53 years old, I am married to an awesome person, I truly know what it means to have met and married your soul mate and best friend. We were friends first and that is such a blessing. We have a wonderful 27 year old son, who is now attending the University of Alabama. I am a blessed woman. I have a Bachelors of Science Degree in Management of Human Resources. I began my faith walk with Jesus Christ when I was 14 years old. I was blessed to have a Mother that saw that we were in church every Sunday and Wednesday night. She did not take me and dropped me off, she went with me. I knew from the time that I was 16 that I was being called to be a minister, but during that time women were not allowed in the pulpit, especially in the south, so I put it out of my mind. It was only after I was forced to retire from my government job when I was 47, that I knew that I could follow my calling. I still had some personal things to work out so it was a year or so later when I started Emmaus, (that is the seminary for the International Christian Community Church). Things didn?t work out well with that school because of all of the traveling that I had to do, I just plain couldn?t afford it. It is a good school. But three trips to North Carolina every semester was just not in the budget. In the beginning, when I was still struggling about going to seminary, I was talking to a friend of mine. I told her my concerns about being so old and just starting out. This is what she said to me: ?Honey, you will still be in your 50?s whether you go to seminary or not, do what the Lord is calling you to do and besides that so what if you are in your 50?s, you could have another 20 plus years to serve the Lord like you have been called to do.? My ministry dreams and goals are simple; I want to tell the people who have been told all of their lives that they are not worthy to set foot in the church doors that they are children of God and they are worthy to attend church, and to worship Him. I specifically want to minister to the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender (LGBT) community. I want them to know that God made them and even though they have made mistakes in their lives that God loves them. I especially want to minister to people and their families who have contacted AIDS. We had a good friend to die with that dreadful disease a few years ago and also the lady that I spoke of above had a son pass away with AIDS, it has put a very soft place in my heart for them and their families.
