Dr. Tony lives in Georgia and was ordained by American Marriage Ministries on May 29th, 2015.
A self-described 'spiritual mutt', Dr. Tony Lamair Burks II has a decidedly eclectic blend of faith experiences. His spirituality and faith walk have evolved dramatically over the years. His great great grandfather and grandfather were preachers. He was raised in both the African Methodist Episcopal Church and Missionary Baptist Church alternating Sundays with his grandparents who stayed in the AME parsonage and his parents who attended the local Baptist Church. As an undergraduate at Morehouse College, he attended Hillside International Truth Center, the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel, the Shrine of the Black Madonna, and Butler Street Baptist Church. After college he attended nondenominational churches, was exposed to the teachings of the Rev. Dr. Johnnie Colemon, and later joined a United Methodist Church. On the cusp of his 37th birthday he became a member of Saint James Presbyterian Church: over the next eight months he invited dozens of people to church, five of whom became members. In 2012 he began attending a Unity church in Greensboro, North Carolina. Upon relocating to Atlanta in September 2012, he attended !mpact Church. He and his beloved longed for a welcoming church: He remembered Hillside International Truth Center and they have since become members. In addition to being transformed by the Lessons of Truth of the Rev. Dr. Barbara Lewis King, he has also been inspired by the teachings of the Rev. Timothy M. Burks, the Rev. Dr. James A. Smith, the Rev. Dr. Aaron L. Parker, Bishop Carlton Pearson, the Rev. Dr. Otis Moss Jr., Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie, the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., the Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III, the Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Lowery, Dean Lawrence Edward Carter Sr., the Rev. Dr. Rocco A. Errico, and Bishop Yvette Flunder. Dr. Burks is a two-time graduate of the Barbara King School of Ministry, was directly taught and mentored by world spiritual leader, Bishop Dr. Barbara Lewis King, and was ordained as minister by Bishop Dr. Jack L. Bomar.
