Officiated by David Albert Zan at Intimate backyard wedding in Blacksburg, Virginia on July 14th, 2020.
"My daughter was going to have a small traditional wedding but due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, many out of state guests were concerned about travel. So I was surprised and elated when she asked me to officiate her wedding at her home. The whole process of getting my ordination certificate from AMM and having Virginia's approval to officiate the wedding was a second pleasant surprise. Because of the intimate setting (and via Zoom), everyone was relaxed. It was an unforgettable experience! "

Welcome family! Jenna and Joe have brought us together, for an occasion of great joy and a cause for great celebration. Having found each other, they have built a loving home, and in the time they have been together, their love and understanding of each other has grown and matured. This will serve them well as the foundation for their marriage, as they have made a decision to live their lives from this day forward as Husband and Wife.
The ceremony we are performing today is a lawful one requiring registry and recognition by the State. It is also a ceremony witnessed by us and sanctioned by God. It is a symbol of how far they have come together and a symbol of the promise that they will make to each other to continue to live their lives together and to love each other solely and above all others. With that, I would like to read from 1Corinthians 1:13 –
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres”.
Prayer: Father in heaven, as Joe and Jenna pledge themselves to each other, bless them that their love may be pure, and their vows may be true. May their union stand upon a foundation of wisdom, trust, love, and commitment to each other. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray. Amen.
DECLARATION OF INTENT
A successful marriage is not something that just happens without work, patience, and time. It takes a commitment from both of you to do whatever it takes to make your relationship thrive and not just simply survive and as your parents/grandparents, we too will support you with love, encouragement, and prayers.
Joe, do you take Jenna to be your lawfully wedded Wife, to embark upon this journey with her? To love her, laugh with her, comfort her, honor and protect her, and be faithful to her as long as you both live?
I do.
Jenna, do you take Joe to be your lawfully wedded Husband, to embark upon this journey with him? To love him, laugh with him, comfort him, honor and protect him, and be faithful to him as long as you both live?
I do.
EXCHANGE OF VOWS
At this time, Jenna and Joe will exchange their vows.
RING EXCHANGE
The rings you are about to place on each other is a physical symbol of the vows you made. We don’t know where they originated from, but they were dug up from the earth, melted and mixed with other raw materials, forged into shape and polished into something beautiful. And now they will be worn on your fingers as a symbol of your love.
Similarly, the love you have also originated from humble beginnings. One side originated from Italy and Ireland. Another side originated from Germany and Burma. And with all the different cultures, experiences and traditions journeyed through different paths, finally converging onto the same road that brought you two here today. Call it fate, chance or perhaps divine providence, Whatever it is, it’s pretty cool.
Jenna, would you repeat after me:
Joe, with this ring I am giving you my promise/to always love you/ cherish you/honor you and comfort you. I promise that I will love you/and keep my heart open to you/all the days of my life.
Joe, would you repeat after me:
Jenna, with this ring I am giving you my promise/to always love you/ cherish you/honor you and comfort you. I promise that I will love you/and keep my heart open to you/all the days of my life.
DECLARATION OF MARRIAGE
Jenna and Joe, you have begun the steps of Holy matrimony here today in speaking your vows before us and in the sight of God. And you will continue to do it in the days and years to come, not so much with words, but by standing by each other, sharing all that is good and bitter in life. Each tender act, each loving word, will be a declaration of what was made here today.
So, by the power vested in me by the State of Virginia, and with the blessing of God, it is my joy and honor to officially acknowledge your union as “Husband and Wife”. You may now seal your marriage with a kiss.
Folks, it is my joy and privilege to present to you for the very first time as Husband and Wife, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Truscello.
