INVOCATION
Officiant:
We are gathered here on this beautiful day to witness the union of Damon and Shannon in holy matrimony. This is a day of great celebration, for a married life - a shared life - is a great blessing. As Damon and Shannon embark on this journey together they will be able to nurture a love that makes them better versions of themselves.
The love that you share must be guarded and cherished forever, for it is your most valuable treasure. Always remember these words; Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
Therefore, if anyone can show just cause why they may not be lawfully joined together, let them speak now or forever hold their peace.
READING
Officiant:
A reading from the Apostle Paul, The first letter to the Corinthians, Chapter 13, verses 4 through 7: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
