Welcome
Good morning everyone, and welcome to the Grand Teton National Park. My name is Nikki, and I have the pleasure of serving as Breanna and Tanner’s officiant today because of a conversation I had with Breanna about nine years ago. That day we were doing our best to have an adventure in our high school's small town, and began exploring a local trail that leads to a stone bridge. We found ourselves talking about what her wedding day would be like someday, and I—rather boldly—volunteered to officiate her future wedding, to which she accepted right away. Over the years we never forgot about this deal we made; so here we are today and I am so honored that Breanna –and especially Tanner—still chose me to do this for real. I’m delighted to be a part of your adventure today, and look forward to seeing the rest of the adventures you both take together in life.
I would like to start this morning’s nuptials by saying “thank you” to you all for making the journey to be here with us today as Tanner and Breanna make a public promise to continue on the path they chose six years ago when they chose each other.
I would like to take a moment and reflect on the story of Tanner and Breanna and their attachment to Grand Teton National Park.
Breanna and Tanner’s adventure began August 24th, 2013. Well it started a bit before that with some deviations from their trails, involving some social media stalking and persistence on Tanner’s part. Their relationship has encountered highs and lows; but a few moments to highlight include the adoption of their beloved pup, Rizzo, in 2015, their move to Montana in 2016, and their engagement in 2017. The couple’s first trip to Grand Teton was one that neither will ever forget. The itinerary for their trip was changed a few times, and despite the rainy downpour they were subjected to, it did not stop the great surprise that Tanner had in store. In front of Disappointment Peak, Tanner was less than disappointed when Breanna accepted his proposal. The energy was high, and continued to be as Breanna encountered a bear later that evening.
The Tetons will now hold the memories of the day Breanna and Tanner shared their marriage vows, here in front of Jenny Lake, as an acknowledgment to Breanna’s mother.
The Vows
Tanner and Breanna have each prepared a love letter to read to one another. They will read these at this time.
(TANNER READS, THEN BREANNA READS)
Tanner and Breanna, I speak on behalf of all here to witness and celebrate this union when I make a few wishes for your marriage…
I wish that your love will grow as tall as the soaring Lodgepole pines, as sturdy as the rugged mountain peaks before us, last as long as the meadows are vast, and be as exciting as any encounters with bears can be.
Tanner and Breanna, please take each other’s hands and repeat after me, starting with Tanner.
