ABOUT THIS WEDDING

"With my wife, Anna, a recently retired 20-year veteran HR Director for a major Pinellas County company, taking charge of the details, planning for this beautiful and memorable three-day destination wedding at a historic family estate near Girona, Spain began nearly a year ago. We would eventually visit Girona twice prior to the wedding although more of an excuse to visit this beautiful part of Spain than an absolute need to meet with suppliers. We wanted to personally arrange for seating, decorations, tableware, music (two classic guitarists) and even included a food tasting by the caterer, A Casa Com A Casa, for the extensive menu that ranged from traditional Catalan tapas and two paellas to a beautiful wedding cake and dessert buffet. My involvement included translating instructions with the various suppliers, designing the ceremony along with writing and presenting the ceremonial copy. We found and booked the L'Era de Can Burgues in Bescano, Spain located in the rural area of the Catalonian provence. We required living and dining accommodations for the 30 family members and wedding party on site. We also would need seating for an additional 10 guests residing off-site who would attend the rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony and dinner. With a week of sunny days with perfect temperatures, the day of the wedding it rained forcing us to scramble and make last minute changes to both the ceremony and dinner. The estate enjoyed perfect indoor "fall-back" facilities with a view of the countryside allowing the wedding and dinner to proceed on schedule. This memorable life experience was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone with some guests continuing to visit Spain following the wedding. Ironically, the work and effort put into planning and execution of this three-day event didn't take much more time than had it been done anywhere in Pinellas County for this St. Petersburg couple. The key ingredients in planning a destination wedding is to be confident in knowing what you want to accomplish and where you want the couple and their guests to travel...all within the wedding budget. "
