Dearly Beloved,
We are gathered together here to join Will Vonier and Brittany Grahm in the holy union of marriage.
This contract is not to be entered into lightly but thoughtfully and seriously, and with a deep realization of its obligations and responsibilities.
Who gives this woman’s hand in marriage?
*(Vows)*
The apostle Paul compared the relationship between husband and wife to that between Christ and the church. Marriage is a decision of two individuals to share the same type of pure, Christian love described by Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians– Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not selfish, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and is always ready to endure whatever comes. Love never fails…
Two lives, shared with this kind of love, can hold more fulfillment and happiness than either life alone.
Do you Will Vonier take this woman Brittany Grahm to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in good times and bad, for richer or poorer, will you always help her get things off a high shelf, keeping yourself unto her for as long as you both shall live?
*(Wait for Confirmation)* Are you sure?
Do you Brittany Grahm take this man Will Vonier to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in good times and bad, for richer or poorer, to laugh at all of his jokes no matter how corny they are, keeping yourself unto him for as long as you both shall live?
*(Wait for Confirmation)*
*Knot tying thing*
Ecclesiastes 4:12 reads, “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
*Braid the rope while I say the following:*
In braiding these three strands together, Will and Brittany have demonstrated that their marriage is more than a joining of two lives together. It is a unity with God as well. They have chosen to allow God to be at the center of their marriage, woven into every aspect of it.
*ring exchange *
The ring is an ancient symbol, so perfect and simple.
It has no beginning and has no end.
It is round like the sun, like the moon, like the eye, like arms that embrace.
It is a circle; for love that is given comes back round again.
Your rings are precious because you wear them with love.
They symbolize your commitment in marriage.
They remind you of who you are, where you’ve been, and where you’re going.
As you wear them through time, they will reflect not only who you are as individuals, but also who you are a couple.
Will, place this ring on Brittany’s left hand and repeat after me: I, Will, choose you, Brittany, to be my wife. I promise to love and cherish you throughout the good times and bad times. I promise to try to remember to put down the toilet seat, and to replace the toilet roll when its empty. With this ring, I thee wed.
Brittany, place this ring on Will’s left hand and repeat after me: I Brittany, choose you, Will, to be my husband. I promise to love and cherish you throughout the good times and bad. I promise to take care of you, even when you’ve over-indulged the night before. WIth this ring, I thee wed.
By the authority vested in me by God and the State of Georgia I now pronounce you Husband and Wife. Will, you may kiss your bride.
Ladies and Gentlemen, it is now my pleasure to present for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Will and Brittany Vonier.
