OPENING
Officiant: Ladies and gentlemen, family and friends, we are gathered here today to witness and celebrate the joining of ____________________________ and _______________________________ in marriage. With love and commitment, they have decided to live their lives together as husband and wife. Love is the reason we are here today. It will sustain in the days ahead through stormy times, good times and time of joy. Michael and Ingrid I ask you to remember this advice: Let your love be stronger than your anger. Lean the wisdom of compromise. Hold to the BEST of your beloved NOT the worse. Talk to each other and support each other and remember the friendship that this relationship was born from. Life may bend your union but it doesn’t have to break it.
READING
Michael and Ingrid, seek from within yourselves
The serenity to accept the things you cannot change
The courage to change the things that you must
And the wisdom to know the difference.
Live each day, one day at a time
Enjoying your time together, one moment at a time
Seek the wisdom of experience
Learning all that you can from each other
Accept hardships as the building blocks of experience
Realizing that accepting both the good and bad
Are simply a part of being alive
Strive to make as many things right
As is humanly possible in your life together
That you may be reasonably happy
In the life you share from this day forward"
VOWS
Bride and Groom have written their own vows
RING VOWS
Officiant: A circle is symbol of wholeness, perfection, and unity. Like circles their rings have no beginning and no end. They are tokens of the growing relationship that Michael and Ingrid have come here to celebrate and confirm. Michael and Ingrid will now exchange rings.
Groom: “Just as this ring is made from precious metal sturdy and strong so will our marriage be. A precious commitment to each other that remains sturdy and strong until death do us part.”
Bride: “Just as this ring is made from precious metal, sturdy and strong so will our marriage be. A precious commitment to each other that remains sturdy and strong until death do us part.”
UNITY
OFFICIANT: We will now use verse John 13:12-17 Bride and Groom will wash each other’s feet in reference to how Jesus washed his disciple’s feet to show them what it means to be a servant leader. He didn’t lead forcefully. He led by serving and loving. A symbol of your marriage. You are equal and not above one another in your marriage.
“12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. “
