ABOUT THIS WEDDING

"The ceremony was a last minute arrangement by the groom, my older brother. They received their wedding license and hit the road toward the location, a long 6 and a half hour drive. Arriving shortly after midnight, the couple stayed at one of our historic hotels in Baker City Oregon. The weather played against them, and right before the planned ceremony at Central Park it began to pour. The wind whipped the branches of trees. With a lack of covered venue, we improvised and I invited this wonderful couple into my home for their ceremony. With my children as the audience, and an older son and a wonderfully helpful neighbor for witnesses, we held the the simple ceremony over my kitchen table. We performed performed a sand ceremony using 4 colors, 2 each to represent the self and the other to represent the past life experiences that would be joining together and loved accordingly. There was an energy in the room that could be felt by all, even the smallest of children quieted and watched. We signed all of the documents and the couple decided to mail them in today to the local courthouse. The mailman knocked almost as the last signature was drying because their car was blocking the mailbox. As the bride went to move it, the groom stuck the stamp on the envelope and shot out the door. The mailman at this time saw him and sped away. The groom gave chase on foot and caught him a few houses down. They unfortunately, do to the hurriedness of the moment, forgot to tell me they had rings to exchange and the groom remembered as they were leaving. They exchanged rings in my living room before starting on their long journey home. "
