Dearly Beloved and family and friends, it is my honor and privilege to welcome you all to the joining of Michael and Gladys. Today we come together to celebrate and rejoice as these two beautiful people become one, joined in matrimony, before you all.

Marriage is a joining into a bond, a union of 2 people formed on the foundation they built thus far. However, their journey is only just beginning. For there will be days ahead of illness and struggles. Days of sadness and days of grief. There will also be days of pure joy and happiness. Life is not perfect and neither are we. Thus it is when we join the 2 into a greater one that we grow far beyond what we could have ever dreamed. But this growth takes daily consistent work from you both. The work that is required of you both is nothing less than all you have and then more. With this joining, Michael, you will be one in the same with Gladys. Gladys you will be one in the same with Michael. Your bond will be a commitment of your lifetime.

Then let it be known that Michael and Gladys agree to be joined in marriage until death does them part!

Michael place the ring on Gladys’ finger and repeat after me. I, Michael, take thee, Gladys, to be my wife. I vow that in sickness and in health, success and failure, and all future circumstances whether positive or negative, to always unconditionally love you, to respect you, learn to speak your love language, to be your protector, to learn and grow with you with all I have. To be your companion and only lover. Until the moment I die.

Gladys place the ring on Michael’s finger and repeat after me. I, Gladys, take thee, Michael, to be my husband. I vow that in sickness and in health, success and failure, and all future circumstances whether positive or negative, to always unconditionally respect you, to love you, to learn to speak your love language, to be your supporter, to learn and to grow with you with all that I have, and to be your companion and only lover. Until the moment I die.

(Hourglass Ceremony Reading) You now have what remains the most honorable of title which may exist between a man and a woman, the title of Husband and Wife. What you have placed here is a hourglass and 2 vases of sand. The sand in each vase represents each of your own personal journeys through life up to this point. Today you will fill the hourglass with both vases of sand to symbolize your joining today and it will combine over the years together and become more beautiful because it will carry with it every time it flows, the special memories of today and your many years of memories as Husband and Wife. For centuries, the hourglass has been considered an enduring passage of time, therefore it is appropriate that it will represent the beginning of your new lives, married. When life challenges your marriage, look back at your hourglass and remember this ceremony. Remember that it was love that brought you here and it will be what fuels your marriage to last forever. Take your vases and fill your hourglass together.

Please join hands. With your vows, rings, and hourglass you have sealed the joining in marriage. So let this joining be blessed here and now. May your lives be filled with joy and happiness.
