Opening
A wedding is a perfect ceremony, in a perfect setting or venue, with the perfect dress, and of course with the perfect soon to be spouse. You two get the wedding on this beautiful day surrounded by the ones that are closest to you to witness your union. But a marriage is more than that which you two are not strangers to. A marriage is supporting each other during mental and physical hardships, it is being a comfort and a shoulder to cry on during times of loss, it is hitting rock bottom and possibly feeling like giving up; but instead you decide to hold on to each other and climb out of the abyss and ending up on top. Marriage is also triumphs, dreams of travelling to Europe, the pride that comes from owning your first home together, and the excitement and pride that comes with marrying your best friend
Intent
I Corinthians 13:4-8 is an iconic verse that talks about what love is…”Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." Tyler and Shannon, you stand before me, your closest friends and family, and most importantly you stand before each other. Is it your intent to love each other in the sanctity of marriage as I Corninthians describes for all of time until death separates you? Reply: “I do”.
Vows to Tylers Daughter
While Shannon and Tyler’s marriage joins them together as one, their marriage also brings together Tyler’s daughter which creates a new family unit. While Tyler and Shannon recognize this family unit may grow in the future, they want to fully embrace and honor those special bonds that their new marriage creates in their current family unit. Because of this, Shannon would like to share a special vow to Tyler’s daughter, Emalee .
(Shannon Shares Vow)
Vows
Shannon and Tyler have chosen to share their own vows with one another. Shannon…..(Shannon reads her vows to Tyler) Tyler….(Tyler reads his vows to Shannon)
