Whitney Durr And Adam Lias’ Wedding Wedding Ceremony Script

Introduction

Welcome family and friends. We are gathered here today surrounded by the beauty of creation and nurtured by the sights and sounds of nature to celebrate the wedding of Whitney and Adam. You all have come to share in this commitment that they make to one another, to offer your love and support to their union, and to allow Whitney and Adam to start their married life together surrounded by the people that are the dearest and most important to them.

Adam and Whitney, marriage is the promise between two people who love each other, who trust that love, who honor one another as individuals in that togetherness and who wish to spend the rest of their lives together. It enables the two separate souls to share their desires, longings, dreams, and memories; their joys and sorrows, and to help each other through all uncertainties of life.

Vows

Whitney, repeat after me…..

With these vows, I will treasure what is real and what is true.

As constant as the waves hit the shore, I will always hold you dear.

I will always respect you and support you.

And just as you can hear the wind rustling the leaves, you will always hear my laughter with you, even in times of sorrow.

And when you mourn, I will mourn.

I vow to cherish the things you hold dear. To think more of what you want, and less of what I want.

And as the sun appears with every dawn, my love will always shine on you.

And as the moon lights up the night sky, I will count my blessings that you are in my life. Because saying “I do” means “I forever will”.

And “I forever will” stand by you and “forever I will” love growing old with you.

Adam, repeat after me……. Repeat the above vows

Rings

The ring, a circle, is one of nature’s simplest forms. The arc of the rainbow, the halo of the moon, and the smallest of raindrops simulate the circle. When a stone is cast upon a pond, it generates waves in ever expanding circles. Consider this marriage as being two stones striking the water simultaneously. The ensuing waves interlock, and the growth of the enlarging circles show the combined energies of the lives of you both. The interlocking of your two lives will be symbolized in the exchange of these rings.

Whitney place the ring on Adam’s finger and repeat after me…”I give you this ring as a sign of my devotion and love and with my whole heart I promise to you all that I am. With this ring I marry you and join my life to yours.

Adam place the ring on Whitney’s finger and repeat after me…”I give you this ring as a sign of my devotion and love and with my whole heart I promise to you all that I am. With this ring I marry you and join my life to yours.

Watercolors

Whitney and Adam have chosen to participate in a symbolic act of love and unity, not with the traditional unity candle or sand mixing but by combining water colors on a canvas. The blank canvas represents today, a new beginning, your wedding day. The paint colors signify the experiences that lie ahead; colors of joys and sorrows, blessings and heartache. The colors represent Whitney and Adam’s milestones, celebrations, tribulations, passions, and dreams. They are the moments that become the days that make up the years. There will be places when the colors blend and mix, flowing together, creating a new color of experiences shared. There will be places when the colors stay separate and stand out alone and independent, yet still a compliment to the color by its side. There may be areas of contrast and areas that remain blank and bare. But when you step back and look at the canvas in its entirety, you will clearly see an Original Masterpiece that is unlike anyone else’s. Just like your marriage will be.

Closing

I leave you with a reading called the “Benediction of the Apaches”

Now you will feel no rain,

For each of you will be shelter to the other.

Now you will feel no cold,

For each of you will be warmth to the other.

Now there is no more loneliness for you.

For each of you will be companion to the other.

Now you are two bodies,

But there is only one Life before you.

Go now to your dwelling place,

To enter into the days of your togetherness.

And may your days be good and long upon the earth.

Pronouncement

By the power vested in me by the state of Iowa and the American Marriage Ministries I am honored that I get to pronounce you husband and wife. Adam, kiss your bride! Adam and Whitney are choosing to honor Adam’s late father, so I am pleased to be the first to introduce you all to Mr. and Mrs. Ball!
