Kari Osborne And Cory Plafcan’s Wedding Wedding Ceremony Script

Presentation of the Bride:

Who is it that brings this woman to this man?

Opening Remarks:

Thank you everyone for being here today. We are gathered here in the sight of God and angels, and the presence of friends and loved ones, to celebrate one of life’s greatest moments, to give recognition to the worth and beauty of love, and to add our best wishes and blessings to the words which shall unite Cory and Kari in holy matrimony.

Marriage is a most honorable estate, created and Instituted by God, signifying unto us the mystical union, which also rests between Christ and the Church; so too may this marriage be adorned by true and abiding love.

Should there be anyone who has cause why this couple should not be united in marriage, they must speak now or forever hold their peace.

Minister to Bride: Kari, will you have this man to be your husband; to live together in the covenant of marriage? Will you love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others, be faithful to him as long as you both shall live?

Bride

I will.

Minister to Groom: Cory, will you have this woman to be your wife; to live together in the covenant of marriage? Will you love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others, be faithful to her as long as you both shall live?

Groom

I will.

Will all of you witnessing these promises do all in your power to uphold these two persons in their marriage?

People

We will.

Vows: (face each other)

Kari: Cory, I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home. Cory, I love you, and when I say “I love you” it means that I accept you for the person that you are and that I do not wish to change you into someone else (unless you can be a unicorn) It means that I do not expect perfection from you-just as you do not expect it from me (Although I am pretty close) It means that I will love you and stand by you even through the worst of times. It means loving you when you’re in a bad mood or too tired to do the things I want to do. It means loving you when you’re down-not just when you’re fun to be with. When I say “I love you” it means that I know your deepest secrets and do not judge you for them (even though I secretly do) asking in return only that you do not judge me for mine (like that time I ate that whole jar of queso) It means that

I care enough to fight for what we have and that I love enough not to let go. It means thinking of you, dreaming of you, wanting and needing you constantly, and knowing that you feel the same way for me. I love you.

Cory: I promise to be true to you, to uplift and support you, to frustrate and challenge you, and to share with you the beautiful moments of life. Someday if the stars align I might even let you win an argument –ok, maybe you will let me win one. You know me better than anyone else in this world and somehow still you manage to love me. You are my best friend and one true love. There is still a part of me today that cannot believe that I am the one who gets to marry you.

Exchange of Rings:

These sacred vows are not just between Kari and Cory because you will not only be a new couple, you will be a new family. So Piper and Keira, will you please join us now for the special family rites of this wedding.

Cory: "Thank you for sharing your mom with me, and allowing me to love you as well.

Girls: Do you take Cory to be your new step dad,

Officiant: Girls, let’s marry your mom and Cory. We want you to have a front row seat.

Cory and Kari, please join hands and face each other so that you can look into each other's eyes and see the beauty of what is about to happen.

Piper, please give the ring to Cory to give to your mom.

Cory, please place this ring on Kari’s finger and hold it there as you repeat after me:

I give you my promise to be by your side forevermore.

I promise to love, to honor, and to listen as you tell me of your thoughts, your hopes, your fears, and your dreams.

I promise to love you deeply and truly because it is your heart that moves me, your head that challenges me,

your humor that delights me,

and your hands I wish to hold until the end of my days.

Kiera, please give the ring to your mom to give to Cory.

Kari, please place this ring on Cory’s finger and hold it there as you repeat after me:

I give you my promise to be by your side forevermore.

I promise to love, to honor, and to listen as you tell me of your thoughts, your hopes, your fears, and your dreams.

I promise to love you deeply and truly because it is your heart that moves me, your head that challenges me,

your humor that delights me,

and your hands I wish to hold until the end of my days.

Cory and Kari, will you now step to the table and hold close to your heart the container of

sand representing the essence of all that you are and all that you bring to this union. As you do so, embody the grains with all your hopes and dreams for the future. Bring to mind the strength of your promises, the honesty and integrity with which you make them, and all the particles of personality that make you unique and wonderful in one another's eyes.

Bride and Groom come to behind the altar and each take their own container of sand in hand

Officiant: Within a marriage each person is both their own and each others. Two individuals choosing to create a new life with endless possibilities and new dreams that are theirs together. Will you now pour the sand that is to represent the foundation of your love which is to support and nurture, your marriage and your family.

Piper and Kiera, will you join us please?

(The couple's daughter joins them behind the altar)

This container, is here to represent you both Piper and Kiera, and your importance. Like colors of the rainbow we're all different and special, valuable, and precious. Therefore it is only fitting that you be shown as an important part of this marriage, after all, marriage is really about family. So will you please pick up your sand and add it to your mom and Cory’s.

Kari and Cory, will you now finish pouring your sand.

And will you now seal the vessel as a reminder that nothing is more important nor more sacred than the bond that you share as husband wife and family. Piper and Kiera, do you see where you all are. You are in the center of your mom and Cory’s hearts, now and forever.

And everyone comes back to the front of the altar

Cory and Kari, you have now affirmed before your families and friends your love and your caring for each other. You have come from different backgrounds. You have walked different paths. You are different individuals. Your love has transcended these differences. In the years before you, may the richness of the traditions that have nurtured you enhance and brighten your lives as you help to create and shape the future.

May the challenges of your life together be met with courage and optimism. May you learn from your failures and grow in your achievements. May life bless you with children, friends, and family in a wide network of mutual support and enjoyment. May you face pain, toil, and trouble with a stout but light heart. May you share with others the radiance of your seasons of joy and pleasure. May you always remember that laughter is the medicine of God.

Pronouncement:

May all your days be filled with joy and happiness. It is my honor and great pleasure and by the power vested in me by the state of Minnesota, that I now pronounce you husband and wife.

You may kiss your beautiful bride.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I now present to you for the very first time – Mr. & Mrs. Cory Plafcan
