In the beginning, God saw that it was not good for man to be alone. So out of His wisdom and love, He gave to him a woman, to be his companion…in a union so intimate and tender that they were no longer to be regarded as two, but as one flesh.

Since this is of God, it must not be looked upon lightly.

JJ and Lauren, I ask you to turn and face one another and join your hands as you exchange your vows of marriage.

“A Cord of Three Strands”

The gold strand represents the divinity of God.

This covenant relationship is initiated by Him and will be built under His authority; and is intended to glorify Him.

The purple strand represents the Groom as a majestic new creation in Jesus Christ.

As the husband loves his wife and submits himself to the Lord, the Lord in return will demonstrate His great love in the marriage relationship.

The white strand represents the Bride, having been cleansed and purified by salvation in Jesus Christ.

As the wife honors her husband and submits herself to the Lord, the Lord in return will nurture and strengthen the marriage relationship.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

“Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor:

If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.

Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.

Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.

A cord of three strands is not easily broken”

JJ and Lauren, because you have here, in the sight of God and in the presence of this company, made your vows unto one another until death do you part…

And as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and according to laws of the Great State of Texas, I now pronounce you husband and wife.
