"What an experience it is to have another opportunity to officiate another wedding... what a BLESSING it is when you get to officiate the bonding of on of your closest sister-friends. I've known Shamees since the 90s... High School days. To know her love for this wonderful man of hers is just as long- if not longer than our friendship? Absolute Gold. The ceremony was done in the park. They chose a beautiful spot across a small bridge overlooking water with a pretty water fountain. It was small attendance: close family and friends, as this was a surprise legalization ceremony, and they would be having a larger ceremony in the fall. When she asked me to do this a couple of months prior, I was so taken aback; I was so humbled. I was excited. I cried, laughed, shouted... she thought I was a hot mess! LOL! I looked at it as an amazing gift. And still do. I'm grateful to God for AMM, because I get to do the amazing task of joining couples together. They thank me for a beautiful moment. I get to thank God for them having a beautiful lifetime together."
Thank you to all that is gathered here today.
Today, we seal the deal of a 31 year old long awaited love story that started with 5 simple words that lead to this question: Is That Your Real Hair?
We are gathered here for the purpose of unity in matrimony, Shamees Al-Nisa Sanders and Lamont Akbar Baxter. The contract of marriage is solemn and is not to be entered into lightly, but thoughtfully and seriously with a deep realization of its obligations and responsibilities.
You both expressed to me thay it is your marriage- not the big wedding day nor the ceremony to come- that is most important to you. Today, we sign the document that legally seals this union, to honor the love that binds you.
If you both come freely to join together in the sanctity and partnership of marriage, please turn to each other, take each other by the hands and reply loudly and bodly for everyone to hear "I do"
*COUPLE RESPONDS*
Do you, Shamees, promise to take Lamont as your lawfully wedded husband, to respect and honor Lamont and uphold the shared values that brought you here today, keeping only to him, until death?
*Shamees responds*
Do you, Lamont, promise to take Shamees as your lawfully wedded wife, to respect and honor Shamees and uphold the shared values that brought you here today, keeping only to her, until death?
*Lamont responds*
***rings are being exchanged during these words***
Then by the power vested in me by American Marriage Ministries and the State of New Jersey, I now pronounce you married. You may now kiss your wife. Enjoy your life as husband and wife.
